Position Overview:
The Project Safety Lead (MCCGT) is responsible to establish a robust HSSE culture within the Miri CCGT Project in alignment with PETROS HSSE Policy and Life-Saving Rules, ensuring awareness and adherence among all team members. This role involves managing relationships with contractors and service providers to guarantee effective HSSE delivery and compliance with project-specific requirements. By providing a comprehensive HSSE support framework and necessary resources throughout all project phases—from initiation to operation—this position will enhance operational safety and integrity, ultimately supporting the overall success of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Project HSSE Management System for the Miri CCGT Project to ensure compliance with PETROS CMS Expectations, aligning with HSSE elements such as Commit, Plan, Perform, and Measure/Review to enhance safety standards leveraging extensive experience in occupational health, safety, security, and environment.
- Create and execute the Project HSSE Activity Plan throughout the project life cycle, including HSSE Training and Assurance, to ensure that all teams meet performance targets and adhere to safety practices while utilizing industry knowledge in Oil & Gas operations.
- Monitor and report on Project HSSE activities to the Project Manager and Head HSSE regularly, facilitating informed decision-making and enhancing transparency in safety management, showcasing strong communication capabilities in open forums and with MCCGT Contractors.
- Coordinate HSSE interfaces with various project functions and MCCGT Contractors to proactively address hazards related to workers' welfare, health, safety, security, and environmental impacts, ensuring strategic alignment and effective risk management processes.
- Establish and implement the Project Emergency Response Plan through scheduled exercises and drills based on realistic emergency scenarios to optimize readiness and response capabilities.
- Oversee the process of reporting and investigating incidents to ensure accurate record-keeping, implement corrective actions, and promote organizational learning, demonstrating proven problem-solving capabilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular site safety visits and lead pre-work briefings, such as Toolbox Talks, to promote a culture of safety and compliance across project teams and MCCGT Contractors, utilizing strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with workers.
- Maintain a strong network of internal and external contacts to ensure effective implementation of the Project HSSE Activity Plan, facilitate smooth asset handover from Project to Operations, and manage relationships with MCCGT Contractors and service providers, utilizing effective negotiating skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering or related.
- 10 - 15 years’ relevant business experience in managing HSE, preferably including in large Projects.
- Occupational Health, Safety, Security and Environment experience.
- Adequate experience in construction preferably construction in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Knowledge of the HSE processes in the industry.
- Added advantage: Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO)/ Orang Yang Kompeten Major Hazard (OKMH).
