Position Overview
The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant. This role ensures the plant operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while meeting operational, financial, regulatory, and environmental objectives.
The Plant Manager provides strategic direction across all functional areas, including operations, maintenance, engineering, HSE, and administration. As the senior authority on-site, the role drives continuous improvement, operational excellence, and asset integrity while fostering a strong safety culture and developing a high-performing, engaged workforce. The position also acts as a key interface with corporate leadership, regulators, partners, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of plant operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power generation in line with business objectives and contractual requirements.
- Establish and implement best practices, operational standards, and procedures to optimise plant availability, efficiency, and output, as well as monitor and analyse operational performance, implementing corrective and preventive actions to address performance gaps.
- Oversee maintenance strategies, planning, and execution to maximize asset reliability, lifecycle value, and plant availabilit, as well as ensure effective coordination between operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize unplanned outages and downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance practices, and ensure full compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and HSE requirements, including local authorities and corporate standards.
- Champion a strong safety culture by embedding HSE leadership at all levels, conducting regular audits, and leading incident investigations, as well as ensure environmental performance targets are met, including emissions control, waste management, and sustainability commitments.
- Develop, manage, and control plant budgets, operating costs, and capital expenditures.
- Lead, mentor, and develop plant personnel to build a competent, motivated, and high-performing workforce, by implementing structured training programs, competency development, succession planning, and performance management systems.
- Act as the primary point of contact with corporate management, regulators, contractors, OEMs, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution. Professional engineering certification (e.g. PE, CEng) is an advantage.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation or heavy industry, with at least 8 years in senior leadership or plant management roles.
- Proven track record in managing CCGT plant operations, maintenance, and overall performance, and has demonstrated experience in large-scale industrial operations with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of CCGT systems, plant operations, asset management, and reliability engineering, as well as strong understanding of regulatory compliance, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience in operational excellence frameworks, asset lifecycle management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making capabilities, with excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Solid financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and performance management.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
Additional Certifications (Advantageous)
- Training or certification in Operational Excellence, Asset Lifecycle Management, or HSE Leadership.
- Certifications such as PMP, NEBOSH, or equivalent professional qualifications.
