Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead and oversee all maintenance activities at the CCGT plant, ensuring that all equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing preventive and corrective maintenance, managing the maintenance workforce, and coordinating with contractors and service providers.

The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in optimizing plant performance by minimizing downtime, controlling maintenance costs, and extending asset life. This includes driving maintenance excellence, enhancing equipment reliability, and ensuring all maintenance work complies with safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Through effective leadership, strong technical oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives, the Maintenance Manager contributes directly to the plant’s operational readiness, long-term equipment health, and overall performance sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all maintenance personnel and daily activities across mechanical, electrical, and C&I systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations, while upholding maintenance procedures, technical requirements, and HSE standards.

  • Develop and implement a long-term maintenance strategy for critical and auxiliary equipment to optimize asset life and availability, ensuring alignment with OEM recommendations, plant priorities, and budget planning.

  • Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programmes—including outages and major overhauls—using CMMS, RCM practices, and condition-monitoring insights to reduce unplanned downtime and meet regulatory timelines.

  • Support plant leadership in budgeting, cost control, and outage management by coordinating closely with operations, finance, and external service providers to achieve operational and financial performance targets.

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCFA) for equipment failures and process issues impacting plant reliability and safety, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are identified, implemented, and tracked for continuous improvement.

  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, reports, and equipment history to support compliance, audits, and long-term planning, ensuring documentation is updated and aligned with lessons learned.

  • Train, mentor, and develop maintenance staff to strengthen technical competencies, support succession planning, and uphold consistent maintenance quality and safety standards.

  • Plan and coordinate weekly work schedules and contractor activities to maximise workforce productivity and contractor performance, ensuring resources are effectively matched to maintenance priorities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technical fields.

  • Hold a valid Steam Engineer Grade 1 / ICE Engineer Grade 1 certification.

  • More than 10 years of experience in power plant operations and maintenance, with strong preference for experience in Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facilities.

  • Strong understanding of key plant operating modes, including base-load, part-load, frequency control, and voltage control.

  • Extensive knowledge of plant-wide systems such as fuel supply, electrical distribution, water treatment systems, HRSG, steam turbines, and Balance of Plant (BOP).

  • Proven ability to perform high-level troubleshooting and analytical work during critical operational incidents (e.g., blackouts, fuel supply disruptions).

  • Familiarity with start-up logic, protection systems, and control philosophies for gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, and auxiliary systems.

  • Capability to execute non-grid (black start) procedures using BSDG and synchronize units to both live and dead bus conditions.

  • Strong understanding of steam cycle flow, from HRSG to steam turbine and back.

  • Expertise in gas turbine operations, including fuel gas handling, combustion systems, and exhaust management in simple and combined cycle modes.

Technical Training & Competencies:

  • OEM-certified training in Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and HRSG maintenance and operations.

  • Training in Predictive & Preventive Maintenance, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).

  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent maintenance management systems.

  • Competence in DCS/HMI operation (e.g., GE Mark VIe, Siemens SPPA‑T3000).

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Trained in Permit to Work (PTW), Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), HIRARC, and emergency response protocols.

  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health standards (OSHA or equivalent).

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with formal training in supervision, team development, and staff capability building.

  • Strong communication skills, with training in technical reporting, cross-functional coordination, and crisis management.

What We Offer:

  • A dynamic and inclusive work environment that fosters growth and innovation.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.

  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a global organization.

  • The chance to be part of transformative projects that impact Sarawak and beyond.
