Technical Safety Advisor

Position Objective

Technical Safety subject matter expert across PETROS opportunity maturation, project lifecycles and operational support. You will be working to drive excellence in asset integrity and process safety (AIPSM) management within PETROS Upstream and Downstream business sectors.  


Drives effective AIPSM via assurance of Design and Operate phase integrity; compliance to Management System controls, Management of Change (MOC) and deviations, maintenance of asset critical data and documents, and functionality of Safety Critical Elements and respective Performance Standards (SCE/PS).


Role and Responsibilities

  • Technical safety input to feasibility studies, concept select and frontend/detail engineering, constructibility studies, etc.
  • Organize/Lead risk assessment studies; HAZOP, HAZID, HEMP, LOPA and ALARP Assessments, etc for new business and existing operations.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose Corporate Management Systems (CMS) guides and procedures, and associated risk-based controls, and provide coaching and  governance-assurance of these controls.
  • Oversight of an effective MOC process – focused on process safety and asset integrity.
  • Participate and coach incident investigations including those relating to process safety events.
  • Improve PETROS CMS content and key controls based on internal and external lessons learned.  



Core Skills and Requirements

  • An Engineering Degree with a minimum 15-years relevant experience in oil & gas operator or engineering consulting environment.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams that support implementation of AIPSM in oil & gas or petrochemical industry management.
  • Experience in leading risk assessments or managing risk-asessment processes.
  • Demonstrated skill in engaging with, and working through others, to develop and implement process-safety and/or asset-integrity systems.
  • Highly resourceful and able to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in facilities engineering, frontline operations management would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity (preferably working knowledge) of QRA tools & methodology, Dispersion modelling, Hazardous area classification with respect to hydrocarbon and contaminants gas (H2S, CO2) would be an advantage.
  • Technical writing skills and working knowledge of Lean methodology would be an advantage.
