Position Overview 

The insurance analyst will be responsible for managing and administering the full spectrum of the company's insurance programmes with a primary focus on downstream operations. This includes pipelines, power plants, gas distribution networks, other infrastructure and other general insurance needs. This role ensures that all assets, projects, and liabilities are adequately covered, that claims are efficiently managed, and that the company's insurance portfolio remains cost-effective and compliant with regulatory requirements.

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage and maintain the company's insurance policies across all downstream asset classes including pipelines, power plants, gas distribution operations, and other infrastructure facilities.
  • Coordinate annual renewals, mid-term endorsements, and policy documentation for all lines of coverage including Property & Casualty, Liability, Marine & Cargo, Business Interruption, Project/Construction (OCIP/CCIP), and Workers' Compensation / Employer's Liability.
  • Ensure all insurance programmes are current, compliant, and aligned with the company's risk exposure and appetite.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and insurance brokers, underwriters, and insurers.
  • Evaluate broker performance, market offerings, and negotiate competitive terms at renewal.
  • Lead and coordinate the end-to-end claims process including notification, documentation, negotiation, and settlement for all lines of insurance.
  • Liaise with loss adjusters, legal counsel, and relevant internal departments to support timely claim resolution.
  • Maintain a claims database and provide regular reporting on open and closed claims.
  • Conduct insurance risk assessments for oil and gas downstream projects.
  • Collaborate with HSE, engineering, and project teams to identify exposures and implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Liaise with insurers and risk engineers during site surveys, risk improvement reviews, and pre-risk assessments.
  • Review and advise on insurance requirements embedded in project contracts, EPC agreements, JVA documents, and vendor contracts.
  • Ensure contractor and vendor insurance compliance in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
  • Draft and review insurance clauses and indemnity provisions in commercial agreements.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or other related field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance management, risk management, or a related field. 
  • Prior experience in the oil and gas, energy, or industrial sector, especially demonstrable exposure in downstream oil and gas operations such as pipelines, power generation, petrochemical facilities will be a significant advantage.
  • Hands-on experience managing insurance renewals, claims, and broker relationships independently.
  • Strong understanding of key insurance lines: Property & Casualty, General/Product Liability, Marine & Cargo, Business Interruption, Construction All Risks / OCIP/CCIP, and Employers' Liability.
  • Familiarity with EPC contract structures and insurance obligations in project environments.
