Position Overview:
This role supports PETROS’ exploration, new ventures, and development activities by delivering integrated geological and geophysical expertise across the upstream value chain, including geological studies, mapping, volumetric and risk assessments, geochemical surveys, seismic acquisition planning, processing and interpretation, as well as other geophysical methods such as gravity and magnetic studies. It also supports portfolio growth through both organic and inorganic opportunities. Overall, the role contributes to upstream performance by identifying value-accretive opportunities, reducing subsurface risks, supporting investment decisions, and ensuring safe and compliant operations in line with technical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent PSEP in internal and external engagements with partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies; review and challenge technical and commercial submissions from operators; ensure data quality, confidentiality, and knowledge management.
- Perform integrated geophysical work including seismic–well ties, seismic interpretation, velocity modelling, time-depth conversion, structural mapping, and seismic attribute analysis; design seismic, gravity, and magnetic data acquisition plans; and monitor well operations and log interpretations.
- Conduct regional basin prospectivity studies to identify and mature leads and prospects, including volumetric and risk assessments, Data Room evaluations, due diligence, and block screening; support farm-in evaluation and field development planning.
- Provide geological and geophysical support for NOV asset management and optimization, including ARPR reporting.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and promote best practices across the team.
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 10 years of relevant Petroleum Geoscience working experience.
- Knowledge and experience in variable geological setting, particularly the Sarawak Basin will be an advantage and familiarity with Malaysian PSC.
- Possess knowledge and experience in exploration and development geoscience methods with a proven track record of successful projects.
- Proficiency in geological software applications (PETREL, GeoX, ArcGis Microsoft office etc) and sound understanding of Life-of-Field.
- Knowledgeable in geological operations is a must.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
