Position Overview:

The Senior Application Specialist is responsible for providing functional and technical support for SAP applications, ensuring system reliability, performance, and continuous improvement. The role works closely with business and technical stakeholders to resolve incidents, manage system changes, and support the implementation of SAP projects and enhancements. The position plays a key role in ensuring the SAP landscape continues to meet evolving business requirements while maintaining seamless and uninterrupted business operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solutioning: Provide functional and technical support to business users by identifying and recommending effective SAP solutions, workarounds, and best practices to optimise SAP utilisation.
  • Projects & Change Management: Lead and support SAP projects, enhancements, and change requests by gathering business requirements, developing appropriate solutions, and coordinating implementation with internal teams and SAP partners.
  • Service Delivery: Manage SAP service delivery by reviewing partner proposals, ensuring solution quality and cost effectiveness, negotiating commercial terms, monitoring service performance, and aligning deliverables with business and operational requirements.
  • Incident Management: Manage and resolve SAP application incidents by analysing issues, identifying root causes, implementing solutions, and coordinating with SAP partners for Level 2 support where required to minimise business disruption.
  • Governance & Compliance: Manage SAP user access, roles, and authorisations to support segregation of duties and IT governance requirements, including regular access reviews, housekeeping, and follow-up on audit findings.
  • User Training: Conduct SAP training and knowledge-sharing sessions for business users by developing training materials and delivering practical, hands-on guidance to enhance user proficiency.
  • SAP Documentation: Maintain and manage SAP application documentation, ensuring information is accurate, current, complete, well-organised, and readily accessible to support knowledge retention and future maintenance.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computing, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with direct involvement in SAP application support, functional consulting, troubleshooting, system configuration, and implementation, preferably within an SAP S/4HANA environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience in one or more SAP modules or solutions, including FICO, JVA, MM, PS, AM, PM, SD, HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC), SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), ABAP, or BASIS.
  • Good understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture, data models, integration technologies, and transport management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage incidents throughout their lifecycle, troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to assess the impact of system changes and enhancements on business operations and the wider technology landscape.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with business users and technical teams.
  • Experience in user training, knowledge sharing, and mentoring junior application support personnel.
  • Good understanding of relevant business processes, including Finance, Accounting, e-Invoicing, Procurement, Materials and Inventory, Logistics, Asset Management, Maintenance, and Human Resources.
  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas industry practices and terminology is an advantage.
  • Awareness of current SAP product developments, features, and technology updates.
  • Formal training in relevant SAP solutions such as S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Ariba, BTP, ABAP, or BASIS is an advantage.
  • SAP Associate, Specialist, or Professional Certification is highly desirable.
  • PMP or Agile Project Management (AgilePM) certification is an advantage.
