Position Overview:
This role is responsible to plan, develop and execute the delivery of PETROS’ strategic communications initiatives by developing clear and compelling content, managing communications channels, coordinating media and stakeholder communications, while monitoring effectiveness and protecting the organisation’s reputation. The role ensures that communications are timely, accurate, consistent and aligned with PETROS’ business priorities, corporate values and brand identity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communications plans for corporate priorities, projects, announcements, events and campaigns, including key messages, target audiences, channels, timelines and success measures.
- Research, draft and edit speeches, media releases, articles, talking points, executive messages, presentations, corporate publications, digital content and other communications materials.
- Support media engagement, coordinate responses to media enquiries, prepare media briefs and monitor news coverage and emerging issues affecting PETROS and the energy industry.
- Plan and produce timely internal communications that keep employees informed, engaged and connected to PETROS’ direction, milestones and organisational developments.
- Develop content for PETROS’ digital and social media platforms, maintain the content calendar and monitor audience engagement and channel performance.
- Monitor potential reputational risks, support the preparation of holding statements, FAQs and response materials, and assist in crisis communications when required.
- Ensure all communications materials comply with PETROS’ brand standards, approval processes, confidentiality requirements and corporate policies.
- Coordinate communications agencies and service providers, monitor deliverables and budgets, maintain communications records and evaluate campaign effectiveness through reports and analytics.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communication, Marketing, English, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations, media, journalism or a related field.
- Experience working with or within media organisations, and experience in the energy, oil and gas, government-linked or other highly regulated sectors will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in developing communications plans and producing executive-level content.
- Experience coordinating media engagements, communications campaigns, agencies or external vendors.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with ability to translate technical or complex information into clear and accessible messages.
- Strong understanding of corporate communications, media relations and reputation management.
- Excellent research, analytical and issues-monitoring capabilities.
- Good project management, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital publishing, social media and media-monitoring tools.
- Basic understanding of visual communications and the ability to brief designers, photographers and production vendors.
