Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in overseeing financial reporting, consolidating group accounts, and delivering key financial insights. This position also supports strategic initiatives such as Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and onshore petroleum operations through financial and analytical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full set of accounts and month-end closing independently with minimal supervision to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Consolidate group accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and reporting deadlines.
- Perform variance analysis for financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and identifying key performance trends.
- Assist in preparation and analysis of quarterly forecasts and annual budgeting process.
- Support cashflow forecasting, helping to optimize the company's financial position.
- Provide financial and analytical support for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and onshore petroleum operations to contribute to initiatives involving CCUS deployment and onshore petroleum development.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and company secretaries on related matters to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Review policies and work processes, recommending improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Work with various levels of the organization, supporting daily operations and handling ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA).
- Strong knowledge and practical application of MFRS Accounting Standards.
- Minimum 8 - 10 years of experience in financial analysis and accounting
- Hands-on experience in managing full-set accounts and handling month-end closing tasks.
- Critical thinker & problem solver with a keen eye for financial details.
- A results-driven, detail-oriented professional who meets deadlines with accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across various functions.
- Proactive, committed, and adaptable, ready to embrace challenges.
- Independent and able to work under tight deadlines.
- Experience in liaising with auditors and handling compliance matters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Office is essential, and familiarity with SAP systems is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and onshore petroleum operations, particularly in areas related to finance, regulatory, or project development will be an advantage.
