Position Overview:

 

The Permitting Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, tracking and facilitating permits, licences, approvals and consents required for PETROS projects and operations. The role serves as the focal point between project teams, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities to ensure permitting activities are executed efficiently and approvals are obtained within project timelines. The position complements the Regulatory function by focusing on permit delivery and execution.

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Develop and manage project permitting strategies, schedules and approval roadmaps.
  • Cordinate preparation, review and submission of permit applications, licences, approvals and statutory documents.
  • Maintain permitting registers, approval trackers and permit compliance records.
  • Liaise/interface with project teams, consultants, contractors and government agencies to facilitate timely approvals.
  • Monitor permit conditions and ensure project compliance with approval requirements during execution.
  • Identify permitting risks, approval bottlenecks and schedule impacts, and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Prepare permitting status reports, dashboards and management updates.
  • Support continuous improvement of PETROS permitting processes, systems and workflows.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Petroleum or related discipline).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in permitting, regulatory affairs, project development, engineering, environmental approvals, infrastructure development or oil and gas projects.
  • Experience managing approvals from government agencies, regulators and statutory authorities.
  • Experience supporting major industrial, energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, or low-carbon projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Sarawak and Malaysian regulatory frameworks would be an advantage.
