Position Overview:
This role participates in the front-end engineering team for upstream development projects, focusing on concept selection and feasibility assessments to deliver technically robust, cost-effective, and execution-ready project solutions aligned with the organization’s business strategy and investment priorities. The role also leads and oversees the Pipeline discipline team’s technical performance and capability development through technical guidance, coaching, mentoring, and structured training initiatives to enhance engineering competency, support succession planning, and enable sustainable organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent PETROS in coordination with COMPANY Discipline Heads and project teams for all pipeline-related engineering design and installation works, including pipelines during the operating phase.
- Review design work carried out by third parties (vendors and appointed contractors) and participate in technical audits.
- Establish the actual operating capacities and capabilities of existing field facilities, as opposed to design capacities, to identify potential bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization.
- Identify potential applications and opportunities for the implementation of new technologies.
- Actively develop local staff to fulfil engineering and management roles by providing guidance, coaching, and required development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relevant engineering standards and guidelines.
- Ensure safety aspects are incorporated into design activities throughout the project lifecycle, including HAZID, HAZOP, IPF classification methodology, and implementation.
- Provide life cycle cost analysis for pipeline-related projects and initiatives.
- Prepare engineering, construction, and material estimates, project schedules, resource planning, and other related technical deliverables.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer/Chartered Engineer registration (e.g., BEM) and membership with a relevant professional institution would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years of practical engineering design experience in the offshore and onshore Oil & Gas industry, with at least 7 years in coordinating engineering design teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in pipeline engineering design, including pipeline routing, installation, pre-commissioning, integrity management, maintenance, operations, and feasibility/detailed design works.
- Experience in offshore and onshore pipeline installation, construction, and Operator’s work experience would be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with relevant Oil & Gas standards and codes, including API, ASME, ISO, and DNV.
- Experience in flow assurance studies, cost estimation, budgeting, project scheduling, contract and risk management.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software such as OFFPIPE, CAESAR II, AUTOPIPE, PIPESIM, PLUS.ONE, and project planning tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Relevant pipeline engineering training, certifications, or experience in design and installation of umbilicals, cables, and flexible pipes would be an added advantage.
