Position Overview:

 

 

The Discipline Lead Pipeline will lead the front-end engineering team for upstream development project, focusing on concept and feasibility assessment, to ensure technically sound, cost-effective, and execution-ready project options that align with business strategy and investment priorities for PETROS. This role will also oversee the Pipeline discipline team’s technical performance and career development by providing guidance, mentoring, and structured training programs to ensure alignment with business requirements, enhance engineering capability, supporting succession planning and contributing to the sustainable growth of PETROS. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Represent PETROS in all matters related to pipeline engineering, design, installation, and operational support, coordinating closely with PETROS Discipline Heads, project teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership across the full pipeline asset lifecycle—from design and construction to commissioning, operations, and maintenance—ensuring alignment with PETROS standards and best practices.
  • Review, evaluate, and endorse design deliverables prepared by vendors, consultants, and contractors, and actively participate in technical audits to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Assess the actual capacities and capabilities of existing pipeline facilities to identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimisation, and debottlenecking solutions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and innovative solutions to enhance pipeline integrity, reliability, and performance.
  • Lead the technical safety aspects of pipeline design in line with the project lifecycle, including facilitation or review of HAZID, HAZOP, IPF classification methodologies, and implementation.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering, construction, and material cost estimates, schedules, and resource planning to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PETROS pipeline engineering standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and codes.
  • Lead local talent development by coaching, mentoring, and building the technical capability of the pipeline engineering team to prepare them for senior engineering and management roles.
  • Provide robust lifecycle cost analysis to support investment and operational decisions.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Membership in a recognised professional institution and registration as a Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer / BEM is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of practical engineering design experience in offshore and onshore oil & gas, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary engineering design teams.
  • Extensive experience in pipeline engineering design across the full asset lifecycle, encompassing design techniques and methodologies, finite element analyses, and the use of specialised software such as OFFPIPE, CAESAR II, and AUTOPIPE. Proficient in pipeline routing, preparation of alignment and approach drawings, and development of detailed fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Skilled in the installation of onshore, nearshore, and offshore pipelines and risers, as well as pipeline pre-commissioning, integrity management, operations, and maintenance. Competent in detailed cost estimation, budgeting, and resource planning, with thorough knowledge of international codes and standards including API, ASME, BS, ISO, and DNV.
  • Additional advantages include experience in the design and installation of umbilicals, cables, and flexible pipes, flow assurance studies and simulations, practical installation and construction.
  • Must possess comprehensive technical expertise to provide authoritative guidance to team members.
