Position Overview:
The Discipline Lead Electrical is responsible for providing technical assurance, strategic oversight, and continuous advancement of all electrical engineering activities across PETROS. This includes governance and leadership in engineering design, contract development, contractor management, construction, installation, testing, operations, and maintenance. The role also encompasses electrical advisory services, compliance with legislation and standards, and the development of technical talent within the discipline. All activities are to be executed in alignment with PETROS’ vision, mission, and commitment to operational excellence and HSSE performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide advanced expertise in electrical engineering design and power system studies to support PETROS projects and operations.
- Oversee and ensure excellence in the operation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment across PETROS assets.
- Develop, maintain, and govern PETROS Electrical Engineering standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, statutory requirements, and relevant codes and standards.
- Deliver technical input and guidance for business development initiatives, including feasibility studies, concept selection, engineering design, technical tender packages, and contract documentation.
- Provide technical assurance for electrical engineering deliverables, philosophies, and control points throughout the entire asset lifecycle—from project initiation to installation, operation, and decommissioning—including troubleshooting of complex electrical issues.
- Champion knowledge sharing, capability building, and coaching within the Electrical discipline skill pool to enhance technical competency across PETROS.
- Ensure electrical safety compliance through technical assurance, internal audits, risk assessments (e.g., SAFOP), and participation in incident investigations, driving continuous improvement in HSSE performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 15 years’ professional experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or similar technical safety leadership role, preferably within the oil & gas industry.

- Proven expertise in electrical engineering studies, design, calculations, and specifications for Feasibility Studies, Conceptual Studies, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
- Solid track record working with power plants and oil & gas upstream and downstream facilities.
- In-depth knowledge of design, operation, and requirements for generators, transformers, HV/LV switchgears, AC/DC UPS systems, earthing and lightning protection, and industrial lighting systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems in explosive atmospheres and compliance with hazardous area classification requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering management, including coordination of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, engaging effectively with both internal teams and external parties such as contractors, vendors, and regulators.
- Hands-on experience in asset operation, maintenance, and electrical safety compliance.
- Competence in tendering and contract preparation, as well as commercial and technical evaluation.
- Proven ability in leading and mentoring junior engineers, fostering capability development within the discipline.
- Practical experience in testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
