WHAT IS MY OBJECTIVE?

 

Ensure PETROS's tax compliance, optimize tax planning strategies, conduct thorough tax research, oversee financial reporting, manage tax audits, and mitigate potential tax risks while fostering cross-functional collaboration and team leadership within the tax department.

 

 

 

WHAT IS THE JOB ABOUT?

 

 

  • Prepare, review, and file various tax returns, focusing on corporate income tax, sales tax, service tax, Sarawak state sales tax, and withholding tax, with proficiency in petroleum income tax as a bonus.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, working closely with the tax manager to implement internal controls that mitigate tax risks and enhance compliance processes.
  • Analyze tax implications of business transactions, investments, and restructuring activities, staying updated on changes in tax laws to identify compliance opportunities and risks.
  • Conduct in-depth tax research, interpret regulations, and provide guidance to management, supporting strategic decision-making processes by analyzing financial data and tax implications.
  • Prepare tax provisions and documentation for financial statements, collaborate with accounting and finance teams for accurate reporting, and review tax-related disclosures for completeness.
  • Assist during tax audits, organize documentation, and liaise with external advisors and legal counsel as necessary.
  • Identify and assess tax risks and opportunities, develop strategies with the tax manager to mitigate risks, and implement compliance policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, providing tax guidance to other departments and ensuring alignment of tax strategies with overall business objectives through effective communication.

 

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO QUALIFY?

 

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; accounting or tax professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax advisory, compliance, and planning, with a basic understanding of the oil and gas industry as an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply tax concepts effectively.
  • Proficient in daily tasks using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively conveying tax matters to both tax manager and non-tax professionals.
