Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced senior geoscientist with vast and well-rounded technical knowledge and leadership in areas of technical and assurance review related to subsurface, petroleum as well as carbon dioxide resource exploration, development and de-risking activities. This position requires candidates to initiate and be involved in formulating strategies to enhance resource attractiveness and support onshore oil and gas exploration and development revitalization, as well as Carbon Capture and Storage.  This role is vital in supporting SRM efforts to enhance value from onshore exploration/development plan and activities, endorsing project and compliance to the governing laws and regulations and Petroleum Contract.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve technical submissions for exploration, development and abandonments activities
  • Collaborate with Subsurface and Development teams to co-develop resource development and de-risking strategies.
  • Advise on resource enrichment program, stranded asset development and innovative infrastructure concept.
  • Provide steer and recommendation for onshore resource activities with the Sarawak Gas Roadmap and long-term energy security targets.
  • Lead block promotion strategy including prospectivity evaluation, data room preparation and investor engagement criteria.
  • Participate in bid evaluation process and contribute technical input on licensing and investment decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including external parties, to ensure smooth operations, provide technical support and to resolve infrastructure incidents and issues whilst managing stakeholder expectations.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience/Earth Sciences or equivalent with minimum 12 years relevant working experience.
  • Hands-on subsurface technical and operation experience of minimum 10-12 years.
  • Experienced and highly capable in analyzing geological and geophysical data
  • Experience and able to lead projects with team members of diverse backgrounds and multi-disciplines.
  • Solid knowledge in geological and geophysical software and its applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with a desire to improve systems and processes and procedures.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in exploration and development project management is an advantage.
