Position Overview:
The Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing oil and gas production activities in PETROS' Non-Operated Ventures (NOV). This role ensures production targets are met safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while protecting the company’s interests. The engineer works closely with external operators and internal teams to monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support business planning. Key responsibilities include reviewing production plans, forecasts, and lifting schedules, ensuring compliance with agreements, and contributing to asset optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Non-Operated Venture (NOV) production-related interfacing with external parties and managing production activities with aim to safeguard venture interest through delivery of oil/gas production targets and safe operations in a cost effective manner.
- Drive delivery of production/business targets by supporting Production Operations in reviewing and evaluating production opportunities and threats, uptime management, business planning, cost control, and providing recommendations.
- Drive Asset Management to Improve Value of Asset (optimizing opportunities, minimizing costs) through effective working interfaces internally and externally across functions to manage risk and opportunity, via focus on Operational Efficiency, Asset Optimization, Value Creation and Improving productivity and reliability of Asset.
- Assess Operators’ production delivery plans and implementation effectiveness for production assurance, cost management, and safe operations.
- Review Operators’ production performance against plan and identify areas of concern for timely intervention.
- Apply production engineering/planning skills and experience to evaluate and challenge production opportunities and mitigate threats as well as cost estimates in focus areas to maximise asset in-year and lifecycle value, considering unit cost performance, production, CAPEX, OPEX, schedule, and capacity (including facilities).
- Review MTAB to safeguard NOV interests to avoid value leakage due to metering/allocation issues.
- Review production forecast, tanker scheduling, and lifting plan, entitlement block program prepared by Operators and to provide technical and commercial view if required.
- Ensure loadings in compliance to the Nominating & Lifting Agreement, Marine Vetting procedure and International Ship and Port Security Code requirements, and that the gas quality/quantity delivered as per sales agreements.
- Maintain effective working interfaces with all the functions in delivering production objectives.
- Assess, coach and train young talents in production and operations from a value perspective.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Engineering degree in Process, Chemical or Mechanical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years experience in upstream oil and gas operations, operational experience in production delivery including production planning and asset technical assurance in PSC/JV environment, experience in subsurface would be an advantage.
- This position will be based in Kuching, Sarawak with business travel to asset/business locations are required.
