Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join our HSE team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an Occupational Health (OH) Framework in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Industrial Hygienists, Human Resources, and Operations Managers. This role is integral in defining OH requirements and establish a strategic roadmap for PETROS, while providing expert consultation and fit-for-purpose solutions to ensure effective occupational health and hygiene practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement an Occupational Health (OH) Framework at the group level.
- Plan, develop, and manage the OH management plan and annual budget.
- Develop and maintain OH guidelines and procedures to support PETROS operations and projects.
- Provide expert advice and support on all OH-related matters across the organization.
- Prepare scopes of work for OH studies and coordinate with consultants to gather required data.
- Review OH study reports and develop implementation plans for recommended action items.
- Monitor, implement, and update the OH management plan to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, including those from DOSH and MOH.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies on behalf of PETROS concerning OH matters.
- Oversee and coordinate OH aspects of managing ill-health cases, fitness-to-work assessments, health surveillance, and medical emergency response.
- Manage workplace occupational health risks and ensure proactive identification and assessment of workplace hazards.
- Recommend appropriate occupational health controls to mitigate risks.
- Communicate occupational health risks effectively to employees.
- Manage workers' health through treatment, follow-up, referrals, and emergency care for job-related injuries and illnesses.
- Provide counselling and crisis intervention for issues such as occupational illnesses, injuries, substance abuse, and emotional challenges.
- Develop and promote workplace health programs that empower employees to take responsibility for their own health.
- Support organizational risk management by collecting and analyzing health and hazard data to prevent injury and illness.
- Plan and deliver training sessions on occupational health topics for employees and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety & Health Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience.
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) is required.
- Must possess a basic nursing or medical assistant certificate, diploma, or degree registered with the Ministry of Health.
- Must hold a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) issued by the relevant professional body, such as the Nursing Board or Medical Assistant Board.
- Must have completed a post-basic certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health.The environment is dynamic and the individual must therefore be flexible and be willing to adapt to new way of working.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; able to articulate health-related matters clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
