WHAT IS MY OBJECTIVE?

 

As a key member of our Downstream finance department, this role is pivotal in ensuring the successful financial management of downstream projects. Reporting directly to the Head of Downstream Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing financial activities tailored to the unique requirements of downstream project accounting.

 

 

WHAT IS THE JOB ABOUT?

 

  • Oversee and manage overall financial activities of downstream projects, including the preparation of financial appraisals, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Maintain meticulous records of project expenses, contracts, and other accounting data within the designated accounting system.

  • Generate comprehensive reports on planned versus actual project schedules and distribute weekly/monthly updates to key stakeholders.

  • Assist in managing workstream leads, ensuring accountability for timely project activities delivery.

  • Monitor and address issues, risks, and changes using established processes within the governance model.

  • Ensure accurate accounting of project costs and accruals, promptly notifying any significant variances with approved budgets to the Head of Downstream Finance.

  • Close and capitalize completed project accounts accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Assist with project-related inquiries during annual audits and respond to audit questions.

  • Establish positive relationships with internal and external peers, fostering collaboration and credibility.

  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head of Downstream Finance.

 

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO QUALIFY?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or similar.

  • Membership in Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or equivalent. Membership in the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) is mandatory.
  • 4-6 years of proven experience as a downstream project accountant or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.

  • Flexibility to move location within Sarawak.

  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office. Advanced Excel skills would be advantageous.

  • Ability to report to the Head Finance Downstream and other project managers or other key stakeholders.

  • Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets, financial forecasts, and tax reports.

  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting and attention to details

  • Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration.
